CONFIGURE YUM IN OEL 5

1. Install 2 packages
[root@redhat Server]# rpm -Uvh vsftpd*
[root@redhat Server]# rpm -Uvh createrepo*


2. create a folder to copy the RPMS
[root@redhat Server]# cp -R /media/Enterprise\ Linux\ dvd\ 20100405/Server/ /var/ftp/pub/
# cd /var/ftp/pub/Server/repodata/
[root@redhat Server]# cp comps-rhel5-server-core.xml /var/ftp/pub/Server/
[root@redhat Server]# cd /var/ftp/pub/Server/
[root@redhat Server]# createrepo -vg comps-rhel5-server-core.xml /var/ftp/pub/Server/


2352/2352 - oracle_updated/kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.18-194.0.0.0.3.el5.i686.rpm
Saving Primary metadata
Saving file lists metadata
Saving other metadata
[root@redhat Server]# service vsftpd start
Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: [ OK ]
[root@redhat Server]# chkconfig --add vsftpd
[root@redhat Server]#


Client configuration :
[root@redhat Server]# service vsftpd start
Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: [ OK ]
[root@redhat Server]# chkconfig --add vsftpd
[root@redhat Server]# vi /etc/yum.repos.d/yum_server.repo
[Server]
name=YUM_SERVER
baseurl=ftp://10.0.0.102/pub/Server
gpgcheck=0
[root@redhat yum.repos.d]# vi /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf
Make sure that the following is the vsftpd.conf file....
# Allow anonymous FTP? (Beware - allowed by default if you comment this out).
anonymous_enable=YES
[root@redhat yum.repos.d]# service vsftpd restart
Shutting down vsftpd: [ OK ]
Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: [ OK ]
[root@redhat yum.repos.d]#
